Naming a band isn’t easy. It’s usually the members sitting around a room for hours, tossing around ideas. KISS was no different. Before they settled on a name, fan legend has it they considered going by Albatross or Crimson Harpoon.
The band also considered the colorful name Rainbow before settling on the moniker KISS. Coincidentally Deep Purple’s guitarist, Ritchie Blackmore, ended up forming a band called Rainbow in 1975.
